The job goes to whoever answers first.

Burst pipe, dead air conditioning, no power. Nobody researches. They tap the first result and hire whoever picks up, and if it rings out they are already dialing the next one. That is the whole competition and it lasts about a minute.

How home service jobs are won

From emergency to dispatched

The job goes to whoever shows up first and answers fastest.

When someone has a burst pipe or no AC, they grab their phone, tap the first result, and call. If you pick up, you’ve got the job. If it rings out, they’re already dialing your competitor. The whole decision takes under a minute, and there’s no second chance.

So we win two things: visibility at the moment of need (top of Google for “emergency [trade] near me” with the Google Guaranteed badge) and an answer on every call, even after hours. Miss either and the job is gone.

0–20sThey search “emergency plumber near me”, standing in water, and scan rating, reviews and hours. Nobody reads a website.
20–30sThey tap call, the single action this whole page exists to earn. Answered on the first ring, or voicemail.
30–60sThey book, or they redial. A caller who reaches voicemail does not leave a message. They call the next result.

Home services marketing questions

Priced by how many trades and how many suburbs you cover. How our pricing works.

Do you handle Local Services Ads and the Google Guaranteed badge?
Yes, and for emergency trades it is often the first thing to set up. LSA sits above the map results and the badge is a trust signal you cannot buy any other way. Qualifying takes background checks and insurance verification, which is worth starting early.
What happens to calls that come in after hours?
They get answered. An AI receptionist takes the call, qualifies the job and books it into your calendar, which for emergency trades is usually the single highest-return change available. Most contractors lose more work to voicemail than to competitors.
Should we advertise every service or just emergencies?
Emergencies first, because the intent and the margin are both higher. General service terms bring quote-collectors comparing three prices. Emergency terms bring somebody who wants it fixed today and will pay for it.
How do we compete with the big franchise operators?
On proximity and speed, which are the two things scale does not help with. Map results are proximity-weighted, so a local operator ranking in its own suburb beats a franchise ranking across the metro.
How long before we see more calls?
Profile and ad work can move within weeks. Ranking organically for the urgent terms takes longer. The fastest change is usually not marketing at all, it is answering the calls you already get.
